Immorality-WDGSA

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 RSV)

I have been struggling with what to put up today being talk Thursday. It’s not that I don’t have a list of topics, but the decision on which was the mini battle I’ve been fighting, so I decided to stop thinking about it and breathe.

So there I was lying in bed, scrolling through my bbm contacts and reading their status updates, when I saw my friend’s update which said ‘Our society strives to avoid the possibility of offending any one – except God’. Very apt I tell you. We live in a world where in some situations, to gain favour we bend over backwards leaving common sense and all our values (if any) at the door. We all know that same sex marriage was recently approved in the United states. I went on the internet and oh my, different reactions to the news, the ones that were against it were coming mostly from the religious point of view. My reaction to all of that? Numb. Yes, Numb. I’ve gone numb to a lot of things I see and hear these days cos there’s no processing them. My brain and heart cannot take any more. I simply remind myself that the world is fast coming to an end. It’s bad enough that we are in a world where so much is happening, but to react in such a way that proves we are more innocent cos we haven’t sinned gravely by kissing the same sex is hypocritical. Sin and immorality have taken the best seat in the cinema and we go about our everyday lives like it’s no biggie. We indulge in so many wrong things and make excuses for them acting like it’s all nothing.

  • We cheat.
  • We lie.
  • We fornicate.
  • We commit adultery.
  • We steal.
  • We bear false witnesses.
  • We gossip.
  • We Kill.
  • We idolise.
  • We are selfish.
  • We do not love genuinely.

These and many more. We are hypocrites who tag others as immoral all cos we claim that our own sin is smaller. Well, reality check, even the little lies we tell, and the pilfering and the gossiping are all acts of immorality. No sin is greater than the next, something I learned early enough in life.

God does not condone any form of sin and he has warned us that the unrighteousness will not inherit his Kingdom. Salvation is a personal choice. Let’s choose wisely.

I rest my case.

Well said, we Christians are forgetting that Christianity is a religion of love and acceptance before anything else, and no matter what the “speck-log” theory still stands.

This world is not our home, we are just passing through, God help us all and help us to be more like him. Amen.

In these ‘last days’ everyone should be certain who he/she believes and obeys……man’s ways and explanations on why sin is acceptable today isn’t God’s way.

    Hello Grace

I thoroughly enjoyed the depth of this post.

“Our society strives to avoid the possibility of offending any one – except God’.” I quite agree with this view.

Perhaps, it is the constant assurance of forgiveness that has encouraged this laxity on our part? I find that the recipients of unconditional love sometimes take the givers of such love for granted.

Indeed, we should choose wisely 🙂

What was condemned with America’s passing of gay marriage into law was the blatant display of disobedience to God and divergence from His commandments. The key word here is “blatant”.

At least the “hypocrites” still keep theirs under cover cause there still is a sense of shame in their wrong-doings (which is not justified by the way).

    Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate all your comments!
