Do You Know Happy?

‘We all want to be happy, but sometimes trying to find happiness can be a struggle. Often times we search for it in all the wrong places or ways, when the answer is much simpler- God. “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord” Psalm 144:15.’

Do you know happy?

I am not referring to the temporary kind, the kind that fades away after a few minutes of laughter, or the kind that ends after a day or a night out with friends.

I’m talking about the kind you can’t place. The kind that even though you still have bills to pay, or you’re currently out of a job, haven’t met those goals you’ve set for yourself, or your next meal is unsure of, you’re not perturbed. There’s this calm you feel, this unexplainable joy within. I have in time struggled with negativity and self doubt, always thinking about the ‘what if this doesn’t go as planned, or it doesn’t work out at all’, beating myself up even before I tried, forgetting that there’s the ‘oh this could actually work and if it doesn’t, I just need to find another approach’ thought.

Thing is, as humans, we often go about our work, business, academics, whatever it is we do, believing that it’s all by our might. We think that our success is determined solely on decisions we made or didn’t make. Well, to an extent true, but the major factor in all of this is God. I recently re established my personal relationship with God and things are definitely taking a turn for the better. I am more at peace with myself, I worry less, my perception towards things and life in general has taken a turn. I’m no longer afraid to take risks, I no doubt longer doubt myself..

So darlings, beneath my printed pants and army green top, is a soul that has found happy.
